Bill Carmichael is a professional trumpet player in Orlando, Florida. As
a young musician, Bill was inspired by the sound of great lead trumpet players
such as Bill Chase, Harry James and of course, Maynard Ferguson.
In college Bill had a range and ability that was adequate for the charts and venues selected by the jazz band director. Bill's range at that time was a solid and consistent high F. Although most of the music he played was within his range he realized he did not have the chops to play as a solid lead player. Bill committed himself to learning and developing the embouchure required to become a solid lead player in today's demanding professional environment. After studying the embouchures of many of the great players, he realized they were all doing something quite different than what he was doing. Carefully and methodically he analyzed their playing and started to learn the mechanics of a great embouchure. After years of research and traveling around the country interviewing many of the great players, Bill has unlocked the secrets that have mystified trumpet players. Through a combination of muscle movement and the proper use of air, one can over come their limitations and far exceed their expectations. Bill learned how to develop the proper embouchure to become a great lead player with extraordinary range, unlimited endurance, great power and a full sound.
